Hashtag generator for every network

Free tool, no sign-up

Use a few relevant hashtags, sized to the network: up to 5 on Instagram, 1 on Threads, 1 or 2 on X, 3 in a YouTube description. Pick a niche and add your topic to get a ready set for each network, inside its limits.

11 networks, space and science tags.

Instagram5 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #ScienceFacts #Universe #Astrophysics

Put them at the end of the caption. Instagram now takes up to 5 hashtags a post, so pick the 5 that fit best.

TikTok5 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #ScienceFacts #Universe #Astrophysics

Put them at the end of the caption. They count toward the caption limit.

YouTube3 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #Universe

Put them in the description. The first three can show next to the title; with more than 60, YouTube ignores them all.

X2 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy

One or two, inside the sentence or at the end. More reads as spam on X.

Threads1 tag
#BlackHoles

Threads takes one tag per post, which files it under that topic.

LinkedIn3 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #Universe

Three at the end of the post is plenty on LinkedIn.

Facebook2 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy

One or two at most. Facebook posts rarely get found through tags.

Pinterest4 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #Universe #Astrophysics

Pinterest works on keywords, so a few tags at the end of the description is enough.

Mastodon4 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #Universe #Astrophysics

Hashtags are how people find posts on Mastodon. Use CamelCase so screen readers say each word.

Bluesky2 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy

One or two. Bluesky feeds pick up tags, but stacks of them look out of place.

Tumblr8 tags
#BlackHoles #Astronomy #ScienceFacts #Space #Universe #Astrophysics #BlackHole #SpaceFacts

Add these as tags, not in the text. Tumblr takes up to 30 tags a post.

How to use the sets

  1. Pick the niche closest to your channel, and type what this one video is about. That becomes the first tag.
  2. Copy the set for each network you post to. Each one is already cut to what that network takes.
  3. Swap in one tag of your own if a tag does not fit the video. Relevant beats popular.
  4. Press New mix for the next post, so you are not pasting the same block every time.

Questions

How many hashtags should I use?

Fewer than most people think. Instagram now takes up to 5 a post, Threads takes 1, and on X one or two is the norm. This tool sizes each set to the network for you.

Where do these hashtags come from?

A bank we picked by hand for 20 niches: a few broad tags for reach and more specific ones where the real audience is. Your own topic goes first, as the most specific tag you have.

Does the hashtag generator use AI?

No. It runs in your browser from a fixed bank, so it is free and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Do hashtags still matter on YouTube?

A little. Put them in the description: the first three can show next to the title. If a video has more than 60, YouTube ignores all of them.

Should I use the same hashtags on every post?

No. Networks can treat the same block on every post as spam. Press New mix for a fresh set, and always add a tag about the video itself.
