Where Typical subscription AI video tool is better
- They work on any device with a browser, including a Chromebook, an old laptop or a phone. TallyReel needs a reasonably modern Mac or Windows computer.
- There's nothing to download. TallyReel's first launch downloads 3 to 6.5 GB of models and needs about 12 GB of free disk.
- On a weak computer, a cloud tool is faster, because their servers do the heavy work and your machine only shows the result.
- Some offer on-screen presenters and avatars. TallyReel does not, and won't.
- If you only need a handful of videos for one month, a single month of a cheap plan can cost less than $49.

We checked the pricing of five popular faceless video tools on 2026-09-29. Entry and mid plans billed monthly sit between about $13 and $39 a month, and the higher tiers run from $55 to $199 a month. A typical mid plan is around $30 a month, which is the number we use for the running cost on this page.
Prices change often and several tools run promotions, so treat these as a snapshot and check each site before you decide.
- Crayo (crayo.ai pricing page): Hobby $19, Clipper $39, Pro $79 a month billed monthly, or $13, $27 and $55 a month billed yearly.
- InVideo AI (invideo.io pricing page): Pro $30 a month billed monthly or $25 billed yearly, Ultra $80 a month billed monthly, with a Basic plan at $9 a month billed yearly.
- AutoShorts.ai (as reported by independent reviews in 2026): Starter $19, Daily $39, Hardcore $69 a month.
- Revid (revid.ai pricing page): Growth listed at $39 a month as a promotion, down from $99, with an Ultra plan at $199 a month.
- Fliki: its pricing page did not show plan prices when we checked, and third-party figures disagree, so check fliki.ai directly.
Why a local app can be sold once
A cloud video tool pays for a server every time you press render. Writing the script with a large AI model, generating the voice, fetching footage and encoding the final video all use computing time the company rents, so each video has a real cost to them. A monthly plan with credits is how they cover it, and it's a fair model for what they run.
TallyReel moves that work to your computer. The script can be written by a model running on your machine, the voiceover is generated locally, and the video is assembled and encoded locally. Because we don't pay a server bill per video, there's no per-video cost to pass on, and a one-time price covers the software itself. That's also why the app needs 16 GB of memory recommended and about 12 GB of free disk: the models live on your computer instead of ours.
If you'd prefer a hosted AI model to write your scripts, you can add your own key from Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek or OpenRouter, or point it at Ollama or LM Studio. That service bills you directly, usually a few cents a video. It's optional.
The tradeoffs, plainly
Paying once has costs of its own. You need the right computer: a Mac with an M1 chip or newer, or a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC. There's no web or phone version for making videos, only for scheduling posts. Speed depends on your machine: a Short takes about 1.5 minutes on an M-series Mac, and on Windows the script alone takes 1 to 3 minutes.
Stock footage comes from Pexels, using a free Pexels key you add, so the clips you get depend on what Pexels has. And the installers aren't yet signed with Apple's or Microsoft's paid certificates, so the first time you open TallyReel your computer asks you to confirm.
If those limits are fine for you, the math is simple. At about $30 a month, a subscription passes TallyReel's $49 launch price in the second month.
