Hands, product, a calm voice. That's the whole set.
An Etsy shop lives or dies on two things: being found, and being trusted by someone who can't hold the item. Short videos help with both. A listing video shows the real size, texture and color in a way photos can't. Reels and TikToks bring in buyers from outside Etsy search, which is where a lot of small shops get stuck. And none of it needs your face: your hands, the item, good window light and a voiceover are enough.
This page is for every kind of Etsy seller, not only makers. There are ideas for digital downloads like planners and printables, for vintage sellers, and for shops that sell supplies, alongside listing-style product videos and the questions buyers ask before they order. Film your own items for anything you sell, and use stock footage only for general scenes like a cozy desk, a mailbox or a gift being opened.

Forty Years in a Garage
1
This lamp sat in a garage for forty years before we found it.
2
It came from an estate sale, covered in dust, with a cracked shade.
3
We cleaned the brass by hand and had it rewired, so it's safe to use today.
4
The shade is new, made to match the shape of the original.
5
The small marks on the base are part of its age, and every one is photographed in the listing.
6
It's one of one. When it sells, it's gone. Link in bio.
A weekly posting plan for an Etsy shop
Three reels a week is a pace most solo sellers can keep, especially if you film them all in one session when you photograph new listings. A simple rhythm:
One listing-style video: size, color, texture or what a digital file includes
One behind-the-scenes clip: packing, restocking, a vintage find being cleaned
One answer to a buyer question, or a gift idea in the weeks before a holiday
Every new listing also gets its own short clip for the listing itself
Listing videos and social reels are different jobs
The video on an Etsy listing is short and plays without sound, so it has one job: show the item more honestly than a photo can. Turn it, hold it next to something familiar for scale, show it in natural light, and skip any text that only works with audio. Check Etsy's current length and format limits in your shop settings, since they can change.
Reels, TikToks and Pinterest videos have a different job: reaching people who aren't searching Etsy yet. Those can be longer, use a voiceover, tell a small story and end with "link in bio". The same filming session can produce both. Shoot a few seconds of clean, silent footage for the listing, then keep going and record the story version for social.
Ideas for digital and vintage sellers
Digital download shops often think they have nothing to film. They have more than most: a slow scroll through every page of the file, the printable on a real desk or fridge, the template being edited, the tablet version in use. Buyers of digital products worry about what they're actually getting, so show all of it.
Vintage sellers have the best stories on the platform. Where a piece was found, what it looked like before cleaning, the marks it carries and why it can't be restocked. A thirty-second find-to-listing reel sells the item and the shop's eye at the same time.
Etsy search, Pinterest and getting found
Reels don't replace good listings. Titles, tags and the first photo still decide whether you show up in Etsy search. What video does is bring visitors from outside, and Pinterest is especially useful because Pins keep sending traffic for months. Post each reel as a video Pin linked straight to the listing it shows. Then check which listings get visits after a reel goes up, not only how many views the reel got.
What to avoid
Using another shop's photos or videos, even as "inspiration" in a reel
Character, logo or brand names you don't have the rights to, in the video or the listing
Stock footage that looks like your product when it isn't. Buyers notice, and it leads to returns and bad reviews
Promising delivery dates you can't control, especially for international orders
Asking buyers for reviews in exchange for discounts or freebies
Making it in TallyReel
Type the idea ("what you get with our meal planner" or "forty years in a garage") and TallyReel drafts a script you edit, then adds a voiceover, stock scenes for the cozy and gifting moments, captions and music. Schedule the week's reels to Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube Shorts in one sitting, and keep your own close-up footage for showing the actual item.
Questions
Do videos help Etsy sales?
They can. A listing video shows size and texture better than photos, and reels on TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest bring in visitors who would never have found you in Etsy search.
What should I put in an Etsy listing video?
The item itself, turned slowly in natural light, with something familiar for scale. It plays without sound, so don't rely on a voiceover or audio.
How do I promote my Etsy shop on TikTok without showing my face?
Film your hands and the product, add a voiceover and captions, and post packing clips, finds, gift ideas and answers to buyer questions. Link the shop in your bio.
Can digital download shops use video?
Yes. Scroll through every page of the file, show the printable in use on a desk or fridge, and show the tablet version. Buyers want to see exactly what they get.
How often should an Etsy seller post reels?
Two or three times a week is enough for most solo shops. Film several in one session when you photograph new listings.
