Thirty Birds
A thousand birds set out to find their king. Only thirty made it.
This is a story by the Persian poet Attar, written more than 800 years ago.
The birds crossed seven valleys: longing, love, knowledge, and harder ones after that.
Most turned back. Some were too proud, some too tired, some just afraid.
When the last thirty arrived, they found a lake, and saw only themselves in it.
In Persian, thirty birds is si morgh. The king they searched for was the Simorgh.
