Schedule Instagram posts, carousels and Reels
Instagram is visual first, so TallyReel starts from your media: add a photo, a carousel or a video, write a caption that supports it, and let it publish itself at a time your followers are around.

Connect
Connecting Instagram
- Make sure your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account (free to switch in the Instagram app).
- Open Settings → Channels, choose Instagram and sign in with Instagram.
- Approve publishing; your account appears in the composer.
What Instagram requires of TallyReel: Works with Business and Creator accounts. Automatic posting turns on once Instagram approves TallyReel. TallyReel’s connect screen shows whether Instagram is live yet, if it isn’t, we say so instead of letting posts fail.
When to post
Best time to post on Instagram
Instagram’s feed isn’t chronological, but early engagement still helps a post get shown. Lunch and early evening in your audience’s timezone are the usual strong windows; weekend mornings tend to do well for lifestyle and food accounts.
TallyReel starts every account from the same baseline, weekday peaks at 8 AM, 12 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM, weekend peaks at 10 AM, 11 AM, 7 PM, 8 PM, in your audience’s local time, and after about 20 published posts shifts it toward the hours that actually work for you.

Instagram posts that land
- The caption supports the visual. Hashtags at the end, 3–8 relevant ones.
- Every Instagram post needs at least one photo or video, TallyReel won’t let you schedule a text-only post here.
- Put the most important words in the first line; the rest of the caption is truncated in the feed.
- Add alt text to images in the media tray, it’s sent to Instagram with the post.
Instagram scheduling FAQ
Can I schedule Instagram Stories?
Not yet. Instagram’s publishing API supports feed posts, carousels and Reels, and that’s what TallyReel schedules today.
Do I need a Facebook Page?
No. TallyReel uses Instagram Login, so a Business or Creator account is enough, no linked Facebook Page required.
What’s the character limit on Instagram?
2,200 characters. TallyReel counts the way Instagram does, so the number you see is the number Instagram will check.
Is Instagram scheduling free?
Yes, every feature and every network is free while TallyReel is in beta, with no card required. Beta users will get plenty of notice before paid plans start.
