No face, no voice, just text, sound and good footage
You can build a channel without ever speaking. Some of the most-watched faceless formats have no narration at all: text that appears line by line over footage, music mixes, rain and city ambience, and captions-only stories. They also travel well across languages, because a viewer who reads a little English can follow along.
The catch is that without a voice, your words and your footage have to do all the work. Below are formats that suit that, grouped by type, with notes on what each one needs to stand out.

Unknown number, 11:48pm. It said, hey, did you get home okay?
I replied, sorry, wrong number. Three dots appeared, then stopped, then came back.
It said, no, I have the right number. You walked past me on Oak Street tonight.
I had walked down Oak Street. I hadn't told anyone.
Then another message came through: you dropped your library card, I'll leave it on your step.
In the morning, it was there. With a note that said, you should lock your side gate.
Without narration, pacing is everything. Each line of text should stay on screen long enough to read twice at a relaxed pace, about one second per three or four words. Put the hook in the first frame in large text, change the shot every two or three seconds, and keep music a little quieter than you think so it doesn't fight the words.
Write shorter than you would for a voiceover. A 30-second text Short holds maybe 50 to 70 words comfortably. Break sentences where you'd pause if you were speaking, and let the last line land on its own screen.
Music and ambience channels live or die on rights. Only use tracks you made, tracks licensed for YouTube monetization, or royalty-free libraries whose license covers it. A single copyright claim can send all the ad money on a video to someone else. For ambience, stock footage from Pexels and your own recorded sounds are safe starting points.
Long ambience and study videos earn from watch hours, which counts toward the 4,000 hours you need for the Partner Program. They also face the toughest look under YouTube's inauthentic content policy, which targets repetitive, mass-produced uploads. Make each one distinct: a real place, a real mood, a timer or a structure that helps people.
